For months now I've been talking about ways to get healthier. I've seen thousands of people talking about weight loss and all that. So finally, I decided to commit to changing my habits. I started yesterday. Of course I had to go grocery shopping anyway but it just lead to testing my strength to not stockpile garbage in my house. Today, my boys complained because there wasn't anything "good" to eat in the house. I still bought them some junk foods but only things that I felt wouldn't temp me as much. I have been excited over this. I'm ready to get healthy. I felt great yesterday bypassing chips, cookies, crackers, etc. However, today I feel a little blaaah!! I'm tired, cranky and just all around hungry!! I researched on the internet for foods that speed up metabolism and make you feel more full. But I can't help but thinking of ways to make the foods more appealing (i.e. apples... with caramel, salad... with ranch.) I did, however, resist the temptation to chow down on frozen pizza tonight, I just couldn't resist pulling off a few pepperonis!! I am very determined to get myself eating healthier for the sake of my 3 year old. He's a picky eater and I don't want him only eating junk. Tonight I got him to try a black berry... As soon as he swallowed he started moaning "ow. oooh. ow" and holding his belly. Then he drops to his hands and knees "shaking"(reminded me of a cat with a fur ball). Then he stood up and started playing like he didn't just over dramatize the fruit. That to me gives me even more willpower to do this. I don't want him acting like fruits are poison. Not all his eating habits are bad, he does love grapes, cottage cheese and apples. But he also likes fries, pizza and chips!
My plan:
Fruits - Mainly berries and citrus
Yogurts
Smoothies
Meats/Poultry prepared by boil or grilling
Green Teas
Truvia sweetener (Can't drink tea or coffee without sweetener!!)
Vegies (greens)
Low fat Dairy
Eggs
Water
So far I've been good with fruit for breakfast, yogurt for lunch and a fresh spinach salad with small cubes of steak (not even an ounce) and a berry vinaigrette. (Certain oils and vinegars contain vitamins and substances that help to speed metabolism and break down fats). Of course that's all portion controlled with a few snacks in there at a reasonable time between meals. However, I'm coming across the problem of sometimes when I get my food prepared and prepare my family's, my son tends to eat parts of mine - like eating the cottage cheese off my salad. I have always said he makes it easy to eat less because he eats my food!
